Fenella Bowden is the councillor for Heath Ward in Cardiff. Elected initially in May 2008, she was re-elected in May 2012 as an Independent Councillor. Fenella is married to Steve and has spent many years campaigning on behalf of residents in Cardiff North at all levels. She took the step of becoming an Independent in 2010, believing that people should come before political party interests.
Fenella has lived in north Cardiff for over 30 years and has taken an active part in the local community for many of these. She has been delighted to be able to take part in a number of community projects that have improved the quality of life for residents in her Ward. Her special interests include support for the elderly; equality of opportunity and access; and social justice. Fenella is a Governor at Birchgrove School. She has a passion for gardening and, just in case you hadn’t noticed, her favourite colour is purple!
You can view Fenella’s Council page on the Cardiff Council website.
Steve Bowden is a retired hospital pharmacist and has been a political campaigner in the Heath & Birchgrove area since the early 80s. Politics, and working for a fairer society, has been a large part of Steve’s life and it is common knowledge among friends that this is how Fenella & Steve met!
The Independent team thrive on volunteers helping to deliver their popular newsletter – if you like what the Independents do and their stance against petty party politics, and want to help us, we would be delighted to have you onboard! Do get in touch.
