Proposed new Housing on Former Highfields site

Residents recently had a chance to view the plans for the proposed housing development on the former Highfields site in Allensbank Road .

Following this consultation a number of residents’ suggestions have been taken forward and plans are being amended accordingly. It is expected that the scheme will go before Planning Committee in September 2016 although it’s not likely that any building work will commence until Autumn 2017.

The site  is expected to accommodate: 12 x 2 bedroomed mews houses & a 2.5 storey block of flats that will be a mixture of 1 & 2 bedrooms including penthouse apartments on the top floor.  Of the 40 properties, 8 flats will be retained by the Council as ‘affordable homes’.  The remainder will be placed on the open market.

This development will use the Passivhaus approach to building and will be very eco-friendly, and with low energy costs.

Fenella said ‘ I shall be continue to make sure that residents have their say on the development as there are several aspects of it which may give rise to concern’.
