Residents had the opportunity this week to express their opposition to the decision by Punch Taverns to re-open the New Inn at Birchgrove .
Fenella said ‘ I have been working with residents for many years on the issues that have arisen from the New Inn. I arranged a meeting with Punch Taverns to enable them to hear for themselves how much residents are opposed to the new plans’.
Arising from the meeting Punch Taverns will be reviewing the evidence and comments that residents made at the meeting. The key issues of noise, anti-social behaviour, and lack of parking facilities nearby were just some of many that were raised.
Fenella added ‘I am chasing Punch Taverns for the notes of the meeting and will be sharing these with local residents. It is expected that Punch Taverns will return with revised plans in 4 weeks time, at which point I shall be notifying residents again. ‘
In the meantime, Fenella is seeking reassurances from Punch Taverns that contactors & deliveries to the New Inn site will not be using nearby Norton Ave & Hampton Road for parking. Both roads are for residents only.
